چکیده

District heating systems provide the heat generated in a centralized location to a set of users for their residential and commercial heating requirements. Heat distribution is generally obtained by using hot water or steam flowing through a closed network of insulated pipes and heat exchange stations at the users’ locations. The use of optimization techniques for the strategic design of such networks is strongly motivated by the high cost of the required infrastructures but is particularly challenging because of the technical characteristics and the size of the real world applications. We present a mathematical model developed to support district heating system planning. The objective is the selection of an optimal set of new users to be connected to an existing thermal network, maximizing revenues and minimizing infrastructure and operational costs. The model considers steady state conditions of the hydraulic system and takes into account the main technical requirements of the real world application. Results on real and randomly generated benchmark networks are discussed. © 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A ROBUST OPTIMIZATION MODEL FOR BLOOD SUPPLY CHAIN NETWORK DESIGN

The eternal need for humans' blood as a critical commodity makes the healthcare systems attempt to provide efficient blood supply chains (BSCs) by which the requirements are satisfied at the maximum level. To have an efficient supply of blood, an appropriate planning for blood supply chain is a challenge which requires more attention. In this paper, we address a mixed integer linear programming...

Closed loop supply chain network design with fuzzy tactical decisions

One of the most strategic and the most significant decisions in supply chain management is reconfiguration of the structure and design of the supply chain network. In this paper, a closed loop supply chain network design model is presented to select the best tactical and strategic decision levels simultaneously considering the appropriate transportation mode in activated links. The strategic de...

Efficient Physical Modelling of District Heating Networks

A mathematical physical model for dynamic simulation of flow and temperature in district heating networks (DHN) is proposed. The network structure is described by means of a graph-theoretical approach where the network elements are pipe sections, consumers and heat sources. The governing equations for hydraulic flows and heat distribution through pipe networks are presented. In addition, proper...

Optimal design of supply chain network under uncertainty environment using hybrid analytical and simulation modeling approach

Models that aim to optimize the design of supply chain networks have gained more interest in the supply chain literature. Mixed-integer linear programming and discrete-event simulation are widely used for such an optimization problem. We present a hybrid approach to support decisions for supply chain network design using a combination of analytical and discrete-event simulation models. The prop...

An Ant Colony approach to forward-reverse logistics network design under demand certainty

Forward-reverse logistics network has remained a subject of intensive research over the past few years. It is of significant importance to be issued in a supply chain because it affects responsiveness of supply chains. In real world, problems are needed to be formulated. These problems usually involve objectives such as cost, quality, and customers' responsiveness and so on. To this reason, we ...
